Shiraz (Australia) Syrah (French) Shiraz is deep in color and tannic (tannins are substances found in the seeds, skins, and stems of grapes, as well as in oak barrels), producing a wine with strong spice and pepper qualities. It takes on characteristics of sweet black berries, black currants and plum, with a hint of smokiness. Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz contribute flavor and structure to this multi-variety wine.
